Welcome to Flourish Counseling Services

Therapy and coaching to help you take your life, work, and relationships to the next level.

You’ve been struggling for awhile and are ready for some relief. But it’s hard to to find the right person to help — especially if you’re trying to find a therapist in Los Angeles, where the number and variety of options can be overwhelming.

Whether you’re a pastor, a therapist, a boss, or a parent — in other words, someone whose life largely revolves around guiding, leading, and shaping others — you know that finding a quality therapist to help you in your own growth matters deeply, both for you and for those you serve. And if you’re a Christian, finding a therapist who can converse meaningfully about faith can feel like an extra challenge.

Rachel Engels, couples therapist, EMDR therapist, Christian therapist in Glendale CA

Hi there! I’m Rachel Engels - licensed therapist, bookworm, and determined optimist who’s here to cheer you on and help equip you for whatever life throws your way.

You have deep convictions about living a life that is meaningful and that makes an impact in the world, but you’re so worn out that sometimes it’s hard to connect with that sense of purpose anymore. You’ve been muscling your way through the tasks and demands of each day, but losing your joy and vitality along the way. I’m here to help you remember what it’s like to flourish.

It’s time to take your needs as seriously as you take everyone else’s

I help people who feel weighed down with stress and responsibility slow down and prioritize their own needs. so they can discover the joy of living into exactly who they were made to be.

I’m trained in a variety of counseling methods that encourage deep reflection and insight-building while also giving you concrete tools to get you moving toward tangible change. I incorporate aspects of contemporary psychoanalysis, Restoration Therapy, and EMDR therapy, tailored to what each client needs. As a marriage and family therapist, I’ll help you understand the relational roots to many of the problems you’re facing as well as ways to move forward into greater emotional health, confidence, and connectedness. I’ll help you learn to listen better to your own life and needs, rather than focusing exclusively on others - to the detriment of your own well-being.

Here are the issues and people I work with most often in my practice:

Here’s what I think my clients would tell you about me:

  • I’m warm, calming, and nonjudgmental, but I will also speak directly, and challenge you when needed.

  • It’s ok if you have an agenda of things to talk about, or if you need me to help guide you with questions or observations. I operate a little bit differently for each client, based on what works for each person.

  • I’m a natural encourager and optimist, but we will also make space for lament and grief when we need to.

  • I can dig the StrengthsFinder and the Enneagram (lots of my clients happen to be ones, twos, fours, and eights, if you were curious!)

  • We can incorporate faith (and struggles with faith) into your therapy if that’s important to you.

If there are other things you’d like to know about me or my approach as a therapist that would help you get better sense of the fit, please feel free to ask!
